One day I was on the bus, on my way back from a day at university. The university is quite some way out from the centre of Sagamioono so to get back you have to travel past an assortment of factories, airbases and schools…

On this day, as we started getting back into the more central bit where the shops were, I happened to look out of the window just as a man waved goodbye to a lorry driver, stepped back into the street with his hands on his hips, and looked up at his brand new shop sign.

I couldn’t really see his face but you could just tell he was absolutely beaming!
